Esco Airstream® Biosafety Cabinets for COVID‑19 Applications in Thailand

The number of people getting tested for the SARS-CoV-2 is still increasing. New strains are mutating and becoming more contagious, posing a higher risk of infection. Medical personnel are at risk when handling infectious specimens for testing possible COVID-19 cases. Thus, it is crucial to use laboratory equipment that protects the operator from exposure to biohazards.

Institutions from Thailand have selected Esco Lifesciences as their provider of world-class equipment. One unit of Esco Airstream® Gen 3 Class II Biological Safety Cabinet was installed in Bang Saphan Hospital and two units of Esco Airstream® Biosafety Cabinets were installed in a temporary COVID-19 laboratory at Simummueang Market in Bangkok, Thailand to cater the increasing demand for COVID-19 testing.

The biosafety cabinets installed at Bang Saphan Hospital and Simummueang Market are certified to EN 12469 and are energy-efficient. They have DC-ECM blower systems that provide stable airflow and ULPA filters which are ten times more efficient than HEPA filters. The cabinets have an Isocide™ powder coating that eliminates 99.9% of bacteria within 24 hours of exposure and feature one-piece stainless steel with coved corners for ease in cleaning.
