Horizontal Laminar Flow Cabinet provides a sterile work zone through a purified air that travels in a horizontal, unidirectional stream and leaves the main work chamber across the entire open front of the cabinet.

A laminar flow cabinet that is also known as a laminar clean bench, provides a sterile working environment for samples and work processes such as media plate preparation. It should not be used when working with infectious materials as it doesn't give users protection.
In general, laminar flow cabinets should be certified at least annually. Some institutions require a more frequent recertification schedule. It should also be recertified when filters are changed.
Yes. The laminar flow cabinet is equipped with an airflow sensor that monitors airflow speed and triggers alarm when failure arises.
A vertical laminar flow cabinet is recommended if there is a need to put large objects/equipment inside the working area, since there is no blocking of the airflow, while a horizontal laminar flow cabinet is recommended if samples are sensitive since the airflow will not directly blow to the samples.
UV light is used to sterilize the working area before and after procedures are performed.
It is recommended to stop working. If the problem is not showing in the controller display e.g. airflow failure, contact your local Esco representative to determine the root cause.
The pre-filter is made of polyester which is not washable.
The laminar flow cabinet's UV timer only allows the user to set at a maximum of 18 hours for each cycle. If the user doesn’t use the timer, there is no problem with letting the UV on for more than 24 hours continuously.
Esco laminar flow cabinet is equipped with a pre-filter and an Ultra Low Particulate Air (ULPA) filter, with an efficiency of 99.999% at between 0.1 to 0.3 microns which is 10x better than the usual HEPA filter.
The sliding sash feature is designed for Airstream® Gen 3 vertical laminar flow cabinets, which are available in models of 4, 5, and 6 feet. OptiMair™ laminar flow cabinets also come equipped with a standard built-in sliding sash. However, horizontal laminar flow cabinets are not suitable for a sliding sash feature due to safety concerns for both the user and the samples.
Esco recommends cleaning the work-zone of the laminar flow cabinet with an appropriate disinfectant (70% Isopropyl alcohol solution) and clean cloth daily. The user should not use strong disinfectants such as bleach to clean the stainless steel surfaces.
Standard support stands include: levelling feet (SAL), castor wheels (SPC), telescoping with castor (STC), and telescoping with levelling feet (SAL).
OptiMair™ (ACB-E) is designed with an ebm-papst® centrifugal motor fan that can only reach 0.3 m/s (60 fpm), while Airstream® Gen 3 uses a DC ECM blower which has a more advanced motor efficiency.
The estimated shelf life of HEPA or ULPA filters is up to 10 years when stored properly.
Filters should be kept in their original packaging and should not be exposed to dampness, excessive heat, cold or rapidly changing temperatures. These filters can tolerate up to 95% humidity; anything higher can cause the filter media to block and fail.
