Culture media is commonly present in liquid or gel in form. It is designed to support growth of cells or microorganisms which generally comprise an appropriate source of energy and compounds that regulate the cell cycle. The choice of a culture medium is vital to the success of cell culture experiments as  the cells' surrounding conditions greatly affect their growth and development whether in vivo or in vitro.
